We onñy decided to visit Koycegiz the day before we went there. We had visited our planned itinerary, and a few extra places, in less time than we expected and had some spare time, so had a look in the guide and here was near Marmaris where we were going to catch the ferry to Greece and sounded interesting. Go to http://images.google.com/images?svnum=10&hl=en&lr=&q=koycegiz to see what its like.
We hire a moped and ride to a beach an hour away where turtles come once a year to lay their eggs. Its no wonder this isnt the timer of year they come. Its cold, windy and sand blows into our lunch even as we huddle behind a mound. We head through Dalyan which is on the same lake as Koycegiz, but much more touristy. You can always tell when there is English soccer on in the restaurants and pubs that it is a tourist town. Across a narrow section of the lake from Dalyan however, there are some ancient Roman tombs cut into the cliff face, visible from the town. We stop, take some photos and head back to our quiet non tourist town.
The next day, even though it is raining, we ride the bike 45 minutes to Sulmaniye where there are thermal hot springs. Because its rainbing its almost empty. There are indoor and outdoor springs and a mud bath which you can see if you go to the link above. Feels especially good after riding in the rain and preparing to ride back in it. We watch a few movies in our room and have an early night.
The next morning we look for cheap flights for Beck to change her flight to go to Hawaii for 3 months to expand her energetic healing experience. I will explore Eastern Europe some USA and we will meet up in San Francisco in September. Whilst searching, I remember that I have lots of United Airlines points from having travelled to the US for work once or twice a year when working for US software companies. We check flights and points required and find I have enough and we book the flight, although Beck doesnt like that she has to book a definite return flight, it doesnt leave the kind of flexibility she likes to have. We get a lift to the bus station and catch the bus to Marmaris, our last major stop in Turkey.
